My Kit: Blusher

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

Continuing my current topic of products in my kit, here are my blushers! I have to say my kit is pretty small in this regard and I am currently building, but all the products you see I feel are a strong core to build upon. If like me you are still building your kit, you will find that you only really buy products for specific jobs, as its a justification for allowing the beauty splurge. As when you are starting out you don't want to be stuck with a lot of make up, that is just going to go off and that you aren't going to benefit from.

First starting with the current favourites from sleek in Raspberry and rose gold. I actually loved these products which I was really surprised about. They are very wearable despite the glitter. I am not sure how these products would fair on a photo shoot but for everyday make up or going out make up I think is gorgeous!

Dallas by Benefit gorgeous colour that I use both as bronzer and blush as it has a beige undertone to this pink blusher.

The two gorgeous shimmer bricks I own are by Bobbi Brown. These are gorgeous and I think they are a fantastic compact that everyone should have in their collection, make up artist or otherwise! They are a multi purpose product that can be eyeshadow, blush or highlighter. I have the bronze and rose shimmer bricks, but I have just had a peak at the Bobbi Brown website and they now do necture which is a gorgeous peach colour! (One for the shopping list!) Shimmer bricks aren't cheap but when you look at the number of things you can do with this product I don't think £30 is bad!
A mineralise skin finish which is gorgeous been known to use this too as an eyeshadow, blush and highlight!

Last but not least my mac pallet! The three browns that you can see in this pallet are contour colours which I have on good authority suit everyone! They are amazing, I love them especially when I am using a foundation that is full full coverage and hides all pigmentation in peoples skin as this really puts the life back.
I love the bright, bright pink but the other two are more brown based pinks as you can see a theme following here! I love these colours they look so natural on the skin and give a gorgeous glow. Colours in order top row, right to left: breath of plum, shadester, pink swoon bottom row: definitive, mocha, sculpt

Until the next kit installment ! x

My Kit: Foundations

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

So in continuation of my kit posts here is my trusty foundation stapple Mac face and body.

Macs website tell us this is a water based foundation that moisturises and conditions the skin.

Why do I have so much of this product?

  • It has a good colour selection which is easy to understand and mix
  • It is a multi purpose product as it can be used on peoples bodies and faces
  • it has buildable coverage - I would suggest this could go from light to light/medium finish
  • I use the white as  a highlighter on top of foundation... or you could even use it to pale out any foundation colour you have... which if the colour you have used on someones face doest look quite right you could pale down the central panel of someones face this would enable the colour to look right (remembering to blend the colour down their neck as we don't want any floating heads!!
  • The finish of this product is lovely, it gives a dewy finish that I am really loving at the moment!
  • It looks amazing in photography

I am sure this is a product you all know and love! x

So I have been thinking about what I love about other peoples blogs and the things I like to read about and one of my favourite posts are peoples kits!

As this is going to take a while I thought I would break these posts up into sections, starting with concealers.
I have three main ones in my kit:

1. Benefit erase paste in the three colours available. I like these for covering up dark circles under the eye but they are best for using on pale skin due to the limited colour selection available. They are thick in consistency which I think is good for under the eye as a normal concealer (or so I find) doesn't actually cover it or last that long. Due to its thick consistency I use a slanted flat topped eye contour brush to buff the product into the skin.
2. Estee Lauder maximum cover foundation I have these in three of the colours available but I think there are actually four now. these are fantastic for covering any blemishes you can wear them as a foundation but they are as the name suggests rather heavy so I tend to just use these as concealers.
3. and 4. these are the mac concealers and maximum coverage (which is the larger circle containers) these are both actually the same product just that the maximum coverage comes in larger containers I have to say these aren't actually my favourite products to work with as they aren't as mailable as the other products. You are meant to warm them on your hand then blend and put onto the skin but if I could buy these again ... I wouldn't! The maximum coverage I actually like to use as contour colours instead!

Next installment coming soon xx

So... after attending the masterclass to get into London Fashion Week you suddenly realise all the products you are missing from your kit... and of course the ones the other artists had that you quite simply cannot live without!

So ready armed with my Mac Pro discount
card.. I bought:
Face and body by mac in C1 and C3 as running low - i was never really a fan of this product
while I was at make up school but having used it on the day and the following day since I actually really love the finish of the product. Its very dewy but you can build the coverage as the first person who did my make up with it blended three colour together and I definitely looked like I was wearing a full coverage product!

next I bought two of the eyeshadows from the look I posted which were texture and embark

as one of the key things I was recommended for my kit was a nice red lipstick and pencil so I also picked up the gorgeous Russian red lipstick with matching lip pencil in the colour brick!

Final things I brought were make up brushes:
The closest fan shaped brush seems to be a firm favourite with make up artists who have taught me for putting mascara on the bottom lashes.

The middle brush is a small angled brush that is absolutely perfect for eyeliner! I love this brush already!

The top brush is 185 is a small version of the stippling brush which I bought as when I was taught by Rachel Wood she showed us to put the foundation on with a normal flat foundation brush but then to buff the product into the skin for a flawless finish which I am hoping this brush will be good for!

update on mac-o-rama!

I just wanted to share a quick update on the three colours I picked up on mac! (coral, bronze and Juxt) and I used the same products wet on darker skin, using the same lashes but think this shows if you have darker skin how lucky you are with bright colours in comparison to how they looked on mine! Slightly different hey!!!

Mac o-rama

I popped down to Mac Pro at the weekend to check out their latest collection as I feel like I have fallen of the make up planet!

The latest collection they were promoting seemed to be the dare to wear collection which was really bright and in hindsight would have been really good to have in my collection as they were all wearing what seems to be the Sh
ock-a-holic which was a gorgeous bright purple. But me being me... I think I a am a Bobbi Brown girl at heart went for the more subtle tone:

Juxt - a beautiful pearly green
Coral - gorgeous orangey pinky colour
Bronze - which of course is a lovely bronzey goldey colour
The green, and bronze have a gorgeous pearly glow but the coral is a matt colour.

As all girls do the fun is trying it on so here we go:

The products are really bright here as I have used them wet and also the lashes are gorgeous ones from poundland believe it or not!
