Dermalogica Kit

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

In order to receive some free Dermologica products, I was told to send proof of completion of my make up course and a business card... simple enough? It has taken me 11 months to get round to doing this.... But I am glad I finally got round to it. Here's what I received:

All for free!!!! right to left - daily microfoliant, ultracalming cleanser, special cleansing gel, skin smoothing cream, skin hydrating booster, multi active cleanser, active moist moisturiser).

As my make up school was sponsored by this brand, we used these each class so I am familiar with some of the products. So once trialed and tested (he he can't wait!) I will give you an update on each product.

hope you all had a lovely weekend x
<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

I worked yesterday in the Ealing superdrug to promote the new collection 2000 extreme range which consisted of three coloured mascaras and eyeliners. All products in the promotion are 2.99 or two products for £5.

Collection 2000 as a brand are one that many years ago I would have put amongst the likes of Rimmel aimed at the young teenage market. Rimmel has since employed Kate Moss and many others to turn the brand into a cool late teen to 30s brand.
Collection 2000 in comparison have been more of a quiet brand! It in my opinion is more of a very teenage range which should be placed along with NYC despite the marketing bumf stating 18 -30.

I am always keen to try these brands ranges as they aren't something I would buy of my own accord and I get to test them on a variety of people to see if they really do work. My biggest love out of all the products I was given to use is their blue mascara. I love love love this product!! I was once upon a time put off coloured mascara after trialing a blue Barry M mascara which didn't really knock back any of the dark colour of my lashes so didn't really give the full colour effect. The collection 2000 product does work and if you are looking for a colour mascara but want to trial a cheap one this is one I would try!

(Image from Handbag.com)

The purple and teal aren't as strong in colour so I would suggest this would work better with blonde lashes but as none of my makeover candidates yesterday were blonde I wasn't able to put this theory to the test! (The colours on dark to black lashes had little effect, just a hint of colour).

The felt pen eyeliners - I can definitely vouch that they do not move, I still cannot get the green and blue liners off my hand... could be seen as a good thing but I have to say this is one of the aspects that normally puts me off a product (YSL faux cils mascara... amazing but wouldn't buy again as don't want to remove my lashes trying to get it off!!) In terms of application the pen does make it far easier to apply so although it is a good product for someone who normally finds liner hard to do the fact that it isn't going to move would mean you have to be super fast when making any corrections!

This promotions has not yet come to an end so look out for further makeover stations in your local Superdrug.

Anyone tried these products or this range? x

Feeling inspired!

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

I am loving making more of the under eye rather than always making the eyelid more of a focus.

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

Just wanted to give a quick update!
On my nails I was sporting the gorgeous shocking pink polish by Barry m, the reason this is no longer the case is... as it is Sunday me and the boyfriend attacked the house with our weekly chores. After spending hours on the house every single nail was chipped apart from my thumb, which as you can see from the picture, was almost still intact! So that is slightly disappointing so Barry M clearly doesn't work through washing up, scrubbing the kitchen and bathroom and washing floors! Gorgeous colour though!

The reason I have my nails painted this gorgeous colour is I was booked in to work as part of the impulse promotion for their new body spray, very pink. If you are following me on twitter you will already know I was working in Superdrugs where if you buy this product you get your nails painted pink for free!

The three colours on offer were strawberry, bright pink or shocking pink! I have to say I personally found that the paler pink colours were quite gloppy in formulation and therefore looked quite streaky even after a couple of coats.

The impulse product itself seemed to do well with young girls - as we all loved a bit of impulse at school. And elder ladies 40+ which was interesting. What did I think of the scent ... I would have to say its not one for me. In my opinion it reminds me a bit of elnet + fruit! Impulse describes it as: " a sparkling blend of pink grapefruit with a sweet base of vanilla scents that will inspire the most romantic gestures.

So if you like sweet smelling body sprays this is the one for you! The promotion is running next weeks so if your lucky it may be in a superdrug near you next week

Hope your all had a lovely weekend x

My Kit: Foundations

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

So in continuation of my kit posts here is my trusty foundation stapple Mac face and body.

Macs website tell us this is a water based foundation that moisturises and conditions the skin.

Why do I have so much of this product?

 • It has a good colour selection which is easy to understand and mix
 • It is a multi purpose product as it can be used on peoples bodies and faces
 • it has buildable coverage - I would suggest this could go from light to light/medium finish
 • I use the white as a highlighter on top of foundation... or you could even use it to pale out any foundation colour you have... which if the colour you have used on someones face doest look quite right you could pale down the central panel of someones face this would enable the colour to look right (remembering to blend the colour down their neck as we don't want any floating heads!!
 • The finish of this product is lovely, it gives a dewy finish that I am really loving at the moment!
 • It looks amazing in photography

I am sure this is a product you all know and love! x

Shu uemura concealer

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

This should have appeared on the last post about concealers in my kit !

This concealer pencil comes in two different colours and is incredibly creamy in formulation.
In terms of coverage as its a pencil you can build this up, but its also precise so you could use this on the waterline as an alternative to white to brighten the eyes.

It was in the region of £20 and I am a bit of a sucker for shu uemura as they do lovely (but generally expensive products). So this is also one of my beloved concealers :)

<"service.feed" type="application/atom+xml" title="sugarpuff" href="http://sugarpuf.blogspot.com/atom.xml" />

So the promised review I mentioned ages ago! I have come to the end of my current bottle so will be repurchasing so was having a quick google of their range. They have a new product that I will definitely be adding into the basket. Normaderm Pro Mat... which effectively does the same thing as my beloved anti imperfections hydrating care but includes spf which is the only thing my current product was not offering.

So why do I love this product?

1. Not that I have particularly bad skin but at certain times of the month i am prone to the odd breakout. This moisturiser targets this. The product claimes absorb shiny patches, redness visibly reduced, and hydrate.
This product claims to after 4 weeks, visibly transform your completion and rediscovers the texture and comfort of healthy looking skin: excess sebum controlled, complexion and surface texture unified, imperfections look reduced. 2 week anti-recurrence action on pores.
I have to say I do agree - its even better if you use the nigh time version as well!

2. it dries Matt - this I Love! it dries Matt but doesn't make your skin feel really tight and dry. For this reason I also use this on peoples skin when prepping for make up if their skin looks prone to break outs!

3. Price £12 isn't bad for a moisturiser?!

4. the container unlike most moisturiser it doesn't come in a tube, a pot etc its in a pump bottle. Which is also a selling point for me as this means you can gauge how much you are using and to be fair one pump per application is all you need.

5. The application - unlike any mattifiers you can buy which are normally skin primers that once out of the tube feel thick and are quite difficult to apply. This product is quite fluid in texture and therefore easy to apply and rub in.

Pick of product to follow when this is no longer disabled by blogger!!

Anyone else tried this? x

Loving the 40s look defintatly another good one to try - pics to follow once I have given this one a go x

todays outfit of the Day

Here's todays outfit! I'm hoping to work out how to turn the pictures round soon (sorry!) Brought to you from my vintage wardrobe mirror!

Black cardigan - Joy
Vest top and Brogues - Primark!
Trousers - zara

Hope you like x
I popped down to my local Primark without the intention of buying anything...

I bought:

these gorgeous shoes are rubber wedges with a suede like material on the rest of the shoe these I think were the most expensive thing I bought at £15. They
come up a bit big so I had to buy a size smaller but even then they are a bit big so will be investing in some inner soles to make sure I can wear these comfortably!

I also picked up those bargain brogues for £8 which are so cute they don't come with any laces so I had to pick up some brown laces to go with these which w
ere only a couple of £s so still a
bargain!!

The final thing I bought was this gorgeous black Angora wool dress for £13 which was black wool with gold studs so here's a dodgy pic of me wearing this - cant work out how to turn this round...sorry:
and here are a couple of close ups of the make up I wore with the dress and the dark wedge shoes! wearing the new Sleek blusher in Pomegranate

Sleek Blushers!

Just a quick update on the wedding event. Unfortunately I will no longer be doing the wedding event so anyone looking to see me there will not find me :(

On to more positive things... I bought two of the new beautiful sleek blushers which I tweeted about a couple of days ago! I had seen a few bloggers posts on these so was dying to go and try these out.
I was a bit apprehensive as they are shimmer blushers which suggests.... glitter!
Which can look too much during the day so may have limited themselves to more of a going out make up product... But happy to report I love them!!! The glitter is there but gives the product a beautiful sheen rather than being too much.

The colour of these products are really pigmented which means you don't need too much of the product to get the colour you see in the pallet. Formulation is quite soft but there isn't a lot of fallout that you would expect.

I bought two shadow from the three they had at the superdrug local to my work in Pomegranate and Rose Gold.
Pomegranate is the darker of the two and has a more reddy pink tone. I have been looking into getting a blusher of a similar tone after reading an article written about Pat Magrath and the way she used blusher for one of the catwalk shows. The blush she recommended was the colour you get if you pinch your cheeks the colour this achieves is the colour you should be looking to go for with your blush. Love love love this!!!

I also bought Rose Gold which is a colour which reminds me more of Benefits Dallas Blusher in the more bronzy pink. I haven't tried this one out yet during the day so this will be what I will be wearing tomorrow! I know it doesnt really look that way in the picture (more bronzey and goldy so will have to do comparisons on this one!)

For £3.99 each these are an absolute steal! Do they last all day?... not in my trial today unfortunately but I challenge you to find me a blusher which does!

They have more of a sheen like the mac mineralise skin finishes but more colour.

These products have my vote!

Yaby swatches!

As promised here is more of an update on the Yaby pallet I bought!

I did order it from the Make up artist boutique which I have to say were speedy on all counts. They registered my request for make up artist discount within 1 day and I then bought the selection of shadows and pallet which arrived perfectly packaged and within two days! Fantastic!

All the shadows I bought are in natural brown shades so hopefully you can pick these up I bought:

antique bronze
ancient gold
smoked maple (which I realised I ordered three off!!! oops they are gorgeous all the same!)
rose wood
bark
and the empty pallet

The actual shadows themselves are creamy in formulation but not so much that you get loads of fall out. They are also really pigmented so you don't need a mountain of the product which is good as the refills are tiny!! I wore a combination of three colours to work without a primer and they lasted all day so these are definitely a winner with me :)

Anyone else tried these pallets? any colours you would recommend/couldn't live without? x

Friday, October 8, 2010
I would firstly like to say I ordered my Yaby pallet and 7 eyeshadows (i will be ordering more I just wanted to see what the colour likeness was to the ones they show on the site). They are all gorgeous and I love the white packaging very mac esque in its little white container.

The colours I chose were very wedding orientated and so lots of gorgeous brown natural shades. They are absolutely tiny but then I guess as they are £2 each that's to be expected and also that's the reason you can fit 40 in a pallet! So will be swatching some of these for you but for now here is a sneak peak!

Also I was watching Nine last night and for any of you who haven't seen this film its a star studded cast kind of musical (if your expecting a normal kind of drama.... probably not for you). But I did like it and realised quite how beautiful Marion Coutillard is in a more classic way so maybe this haircut would be more me! Maybe just a short fringe to change up my hairstyle and have strong perfect brows

have a lovely day x

After watching Tanya Burrs review of Britney Spears new fragrance Radiance I did want to see what this fragrance was like. She described it as a more grown up version of the past ones, which in my opinion were too sweet and smelled of candy floss but that seems to just be me as everyone else in blog land seemed to really love it.

So on my lunch break today I popped in to Boots to sample the new fragrance. I have to say I am impressed its still sweet but reminds me of another fragrance that I cant quite put my finger on. As well as being sweet it does have a fresh sense about it which I love!

The bottle.... nah, not great but think its better than the previous ones a lot more grown up!

I would probably buy this to wear during the day but only if it was within £15-£20 mark.

Anyone else tried this perfume yet?x

So I have been thinking about what I love about other peoples blogs and the things I like to read about and one of my favourite posts are peoples kits!

As this is going to take a while I thought I would break these posts up into sections, starting with concealers.
I have three main ones in my kit:

1. Benefit erase paste in the three colours available. I like these for covering up dark circles under the eye but they are best for using on pale skin due to the limited colour selection available. They are thick in consistency which I think is good for under the eye as a normal concealer (or so I find) doesn't actually cover it or last that long. Due to its thick consistency I use a slanted flat topped eye contour brush to buff the product into the skin.
2. Estee Lauder maximum cover foundation I have these in three of the colours available but I think there are actually four now. these are fantastic for covering any blemishes you can wear them as a foundation but they are as the name suggests rather heavy so I tend to just use these as concealers.
3. and 4. these are the mac concealers and maximum coverage (which is the larger circle containers) these are both actually the same product just that the maximum coverage comes in larger containers I have to say these aren't actually my favourite products to work with as they aren't as mailable as the other products. You are meant to warm them on your hand then blend and put onto the skin but if I could buy these again ... I wouldn't! The maximum coverage I actually like to use as contour colours instead!

Next installment coming soon xx

Britains Next top model

After seeing this lovely haircut on Britains next top model contestant Tiffany I am seriously considering a change of hairstyle! I love love love this cut!!!
Sunday, October 3, 2010

As I think I previously blogged I am the worlds worst in sticking to any kind of skin regime ... this requires a form of comitment that I am only ever willing to give in the morning... evening its a face wipe to remove the days make up and then off to bed I'm afraid (ashamed) to say.

So when I was given the Liz Earle hot cloth and polish face wash I wasnt sure if I was going to actually be able to stick to this as you are given two muslin cloths and the product which always suggests more work than your average face wash.

To use this product you:

Step 1: Massage 1 or 2 pumps ( I find one is generally enough) gently onto dry skin over face and neck. Free from mineral oil, its rich and creamy texture swiftly removes all traces of face and eye make-up, including stubborn mascara. - the removing mascara I love as if like me you remove your mascara with the awful wipes you are always left with the reminants in the morning!

Step 2: Rinse the pure muslin cloth in hand-hot water and wring out before gently polishing off the cream to gently remove dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin.
Splash face with cool clean water and follow with Instant Boost Skin Tonic and your choice of moisturiser.

Ingredients:

Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao)
This rich, creamy butter which has moisturising effects on the skin is made from the roasted seeds of the cocoa tree, the same seeds that give us chocolate and cocoa
.

Hops Extract (Humulus lupulus)
This herbal extract comes from the pinecone-like fruit of the hop plant and has astringent and toning properties.

Rosemary Essential Oil/Extract (Rosmarinus officinalis)
This renowned and once sacred herb has been used for centuries in beauty preparations. Rosemary essential oil has a fresh pungent aroma and is very invigorating and stimulating. The extract has beneficial antioxidant properties.

Chamomile Essential Oil/Extract (Anthemis nobilis)
This herb takes its name from the Greek kamai (ground) and melon (apple) because of the sweet apple-like fragrance it releases when trodden on. The essential oil is considered a gentle oil by aromatherapists and medical herbalists have used chamomile for soothing the skin for centuries.

Eucalyptus Essential Oil (Eucalyptus globulus)
Native to Australia, eucalyptus shoots are a favourite food of the koala. The cooling essential oil produced from the leaves and twigs has decongestant properties and is used by aromatherapists to ease muscular aches and pains.

D-panthenol
Otherwise known as pro-vitamin B5, this B vitamin is necessary for the normal functioning of the skin and has a moisturising effect. It also helps stimulate cellular renewal.

Glycerin
The glycerin we use is always vegetable derived. It is a humectant (attracts water), drawing atmospheric water onto the skin to aid hydration.

Beeswax (Cera alba)
The beeswax used in Naturally Active Skincare comes from the honeycombs in which bees store their pollen. It has skin protecting properties and helps to relieve chapped skin.

All these lovely ingredients have meant I have seen a change in my skin within three days and am officially a convert! By change I mean, I can visibly see that my breakouts have been minamised and are only lasting for a couple of days. my skin feels plumper and revitalised which I love and this beautiful British weather at the moment will be the test of this product. If it can keep this up in the cold and not look chapped or dry I think we will have an all time winner here!
The product smell is slightly lavender which I am loving at the moment as it is helping me to stay calm in the mornings!
I would recommend this to all to try as I am sure from my absolute adoration of the product you will love it too! They now sell the brand in John Lewis @ £13 for this product. I'm in love with it so give it a try and let me know what you think!x

I finally have Internet connection back in my house after a whole week!!!

This post is more of a ramble! Yesterday was a very busy day for me. I had to be at the accountant for 8am which was a two hours drive from my house :( But now everything is sorted my make up stand that I am setting up in Clapham, South London is ready to go thanks to this meeting.
For those of you who don't know my stand will be in this shop and I will be offering make up lessons, make up to go out, a change in your make up after changing your hair colour... you get the idea. Also I will be selling the lovely Pixi products which I am currently finalising the kit collection and hope to be ordering tomorrow fingers crossed! So look out for pics of the stand and an update on the kit I will be using and products available :)
The second half of my day was that as most future brides are aware there is the National Wedding Show going on currently in London. Which is where it turns out I was to meet an agency, that I was hoping to join. For any of you who have visited the show, I was on the Wedding Magazine stand, which was right opposite the catwalk. I did wedding make up trials for people attending the show which was to be my test as to whether I was allowed to join. .... I have been accepted to the agency and I absolutely loved doing bridal make up, which I was really surprised to find. I think this is one of my favourite things so far, as I love to do natural but flattering make up and offering advise on products to improve the quality of your skin before the day, products to do your make up on the day!
Most make up artists I was taught by really hated doing wedding make up - as they found many a bridezilla, which I can totally see happening. But I think I am currently adding this in to my top favourite make ups to do, after London fashion week this is! So I think my Yabi pallet eyeshadow colours will be for bridal.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend x
