Summer Haul!

Ok so I have been bad, the extent of which you will see from the evidence that follows! I bought:

this dress was from Joy (I absolutely love this shop) they sell clothes/ jewlerry and shoes from different brands (but not the ones
you would normally see anywhere!) This dress is fitted and figure hugging with a tulip skirt that wraps over.

I also got:
I bought this one to go to a wedding in that is on the beach its a boob tube dress again its very fitted but think this should look fine without heels on the beach! I plan to wear this with gold coloured flip flops, a flower in my hair and hardly any make up apart from some coral lipstick and some bronzer!

Then I headed on to the All Saints sale and got this lovely number:

This was half price in the sale I wasnt too sure about the shape at first as it is very fitted at the top and then goes out at the hips but I think it would look good with some gladiator high heels and make up wise either dark dramatic smokey eyes and dewy skin or au natu
relle with a statement bright lipstick.

I also purchased the following from Primarni:
The flip flops were cute, at £1.50 each how can you go wrong. One is black with leopard print on the bit that goes between your toes. The second pair are red bottomed with white and cherries on it very cute. I also picked up two bikinis - halter necks. I couldn't make my mind up so bought them both. Both top and bottoms have frills on which are cute although I didn't think I'd like it before I tried it on!

O and a Barry M lip gloss to finish off - never tried these before it tasted lovely and was a bargain. I bought this in number 4 but was so disappointed with the colour it just comes out as my natural lip colour with a sheen. it does seem to last quite a long time, just need to remember it comes out fast :)

Out of all the 17 products I chose I have to say I am loving the green corrector liquid the most. It is fantastic when just used on areas of redness to bring the colour down. It does so with a whiting affect, so don't go cray otherwise you will look like you are trying to create your own Elizabethan look!.

The blusher is very close to the colour of Dallas by benefit but as predicted doesn't last as long. I think it may be time for me to try some new cream blushers as all powder ones i have tried never last that long and I am not the kinda girl who touches up her make up throughout the day, more of a put it on and go kinda girl! If you liked the colour of the 17 blusher I would definately try Dallas. It is a lovely burnt pink colour which is a cross between a bronzer and blusher which is my favourite colour blusher. Wouldn't bother with the applicator that comes with it!

Foundation, not loving it - think the colour I got may be a little pale and the finish isn't dazzling, coverage is very limited. My preferred foundation of the moment is defo Maybelline Dream Satin.

That's all for now!

Another Mini Haul

After leaving work today I felt in need of a treat so tried to locate a Superdrug to satisfy the craving, but all I could find were boots. Small boots at that so as we all know their make up selection isn't the best. However, I did manage to locate some lovely stuff to splurge on.

I bought:
Which is interesting stuff!! It comes out green and then changes to a natural skin colour - I cant give a proper review as I have only just tested it but I think I went a bit crazy with it as it made me very pale. I used it as you would a primer before a foundation
. The product made me go very pale but after applying make up it did make the redness go down. Which I understand this to be as green is opposite on the colour wheel so counteracts the redness. Art lesson over! It does have a lovely suncream like smell. I think only a little bit of product is required so this makes this a bargain at only a couple of quid. But it didn't help conceal the twins I have recently had appear on my face!!! - Any concealer recommendations or regimes any one can recommend as no matter what I do they still seem to be shinning through my foundation!

As 17 products were on a 3 for 2 I also bought, Skin perfecting foundation. My new obsession seems to be foundations so expect many more reviews in the coming week as this is one thing i have never managed to get right! The colour of the foundation in the 17 range are limited to 4 for each different foundation - or just in the shop I was in! Also even if they were called the same thing in the different ranges they were a different colour which I found a little odd, but then I guess this opened them up to a lot of people but it does mean you cant just assume you are the same colour in every range. As I have only used this once I would say it gives a very light coverage - so freckles will be visible and is a lot lighter than the Maybelline product I bought but this maybe perfect for when the sun comes out, so will do a durability test between these two. I bought this in colour - fair, its shine free and claims to give a flawless finish without shine. With my use of the colour corrector I don't think that's bad - as this was only £5 it might be a bargain. I will give a wearability review on this one.:

I also picked up a blusher in plum puff which is a lovely matt only a sprinkle of sparkle brown pink. This wasn't my first choice but I do like how it looked when I trialed it - my camera isn't working so no preview photos I am afraid. I would like to do an all day trial as I find with the cheap bronzers they do not tend to stay on all day. So I will report back on this one!

Mini haul

I have been on a little spree after my wander round superdrug to buy some more supplies!

I picked up
I am always skeptical about cheap foundations but I have to say this is really nice. It does make my skin feel smooth, but does give quite good full coverage without feeling too heavy. But
you do still need to apply concealer as it isnt a miracle solution to all skin problems!

I also treated myself to a new brush to apply this foundation:
I meant to pick up a foundation brush but picked up a powder brush instead but I have to say I like applying the foundation with this! It is soo soft and as I apply my moisturiser first with the brush and then the foundation it doesnt all soak into the brush! This was only £12 so I think thats quite reasonable for such a nice brush! Might go back and actually invest in the foundation brush but for now I am loving this brush!

So I went to see the school on Saturday! I really must have walked past that doorway about a 1,000 times and never seen the school there. But I guess that is the same with most places all over London, you only know where you need to and ignore the rest.

When I went into the school I was shown to the class and got to talk to the make up artists and students and taken through the massive collection of make up available to all students to try. I had been looking at a school where you bring your own make up however, I think having it all available to you when you study is a better idea as you can then work out what you like and what you don't so that you don't end up wasting your pennies on stuff you aren't going to use! One of the top make up artists there did seem to be quite stand off ish but I guess this industry will be quite tough so I need to grow a thicker skin and fast!

I was then talked through how all the students learn - they are given a demo by top make up artists in the morning and then made to replicate it and then after lunch they are allowed to do their own interpretation of the look.

Each day they are also given different key brands to try so that they can work their way through what is good and what isn't!

I got to look through some of the teachers portfolios which were absolutely amazing some of their worth really was breath taking - and a little intimidating. The school specialises in fashion editorial and catwalk which all students if good enough can potentially take part in as assistants.

I am paying my deposit next week but my course wont start until November!

The school

Okay, so after much speculation, I have finally decided which make up school I hope to attend...

I had initially looked at all schools possible. For any of you who have been looking into this you will understand why it is a shock to the system... they are all so expensive or seem to expect you to not have a job.

Many of the courses available are for 3 months during the day and cost around 5k which to the average unemployed person I would have thought was pretty steep! The most expensive I spied on my google trawl was £7k for 3 months.

I am going to see the academy of freelance make up artists on the first sat in June, their course isn't that steep (affordable with the aid of my newly acquired flexible friend). They also run courses once you have studied with them in association with specific make up brands as well as a course in Paris, so that you can learn at Paris fashion week. I cannot tell you how excited I am :)

Shoes

After finding those lovely sandals were sold out online at New Look I decided to hunt them down. I went to the main oxford street store opposite primarni. I have to say I have never even noticed that it was there, it has an absolutely massive shoe section!
I hunted through the rows of sandals only to discover they didn't have the sandals I wanted :( I for some reason thought there was another New Look next to Marks and Spencers?? I trudged the length of the road to discover there wasn't :( (I feel I should say that is a long walk!!!) I trudged back and settled for these lovely ones! £20 is a bargain they are a lot better quality than the others I looked at in H&M or Next.

I also discovered a really cute independent shoe shop near my work
and bought these lovely ballet pumps (sorry the colour is rubbish on this photo). They are black suede with a lovely blue colour round the edge. I love them! They do them in loads of different colours and had some gorgeous shoes and bags so I think there will probably by hundreds more posts with shoes from there!!!

New Look

I am on the look out for a new pair of pumps, tried the normal Primarni ones and found they just look horrid and plasticy ... but on my net search I found some sandals instead! These are from New Look they are so cute ... i WANT them I WANT them but surprise surprise they have all sold out :(

So I broke my clothes shopping rule already!

I walk past Joy every day on my way to work and kept looking at a lovely green dress longingly in the window. I waited until pay day and it had all sold out in my size :( Went back today.... sorry about the camera quality my phone is rubbish! Its a bright green dress- not that you can tell in the photo-which is a wrap around and ties up at the waist. It also has a lovely white, black and coral pattern all over with a frilled edge, which will need a top underneath due to its low cut v neckline or if you have boobs (which I don't) you could pull this dress off with a push up bra! Its very Kelly Brook in shape.

I also spied another 2 dresses but a week before payday is not the best time for a spot of shopping!

To ease my conscience a bit I do have some things I can wear with it ... leggings and gladiator Esq sandals. I will spare you the awful camera photos! All I need now are some accessories...
Loving both of these, both from accessorize. Think this dress would also look good with a coral cardigan or a one in royal blue!

Let me know what you think?

As the sun is now shining in London, it makes me want to do one thing .... shop!! No more blacks and dreary it is now time for some COLOUR!

However, on a budget! So I am feeling inspired by monsieur Gok and have decided that if I bu

clusive of accessories rather than random bits I usually pick up and have to buy more things to go with them)... so outfit one..

Earings Orelia (£30)

Nails Inc

Okay so I have finally got my camera to work!!! (Apoligies for all the google images).

I went to the vitality show I think it was about three weeks ago now as I was given a free ticket by my lovely friend who was working there on a Saturday (poor thing :( ). I went a long without
wanting to buy anything and what did I see as one of the first stands of the show??? Nails Inc stand, they were selling 9 nail varnishes for £20! Seeing as they cost £10 each I would say this was a bit of a bargain.

I hadn't used any of their polishes before, as painting my nails has always been that little bit too much effort. But, as this was a really good offer I couldn't pass this up! Reoccurring theme I know but I absolutely love them now and have been painting and repainting my nails ever since.... yep two weeks we will see how long this lasts....

The colour selection was good, I love Portabello Market which is the gorgeous summery orange colour which helps us pale people look browner than we are! I have noticed that the lighter colours are slightly harder to apply as they are more gloppy and therefore harder to control. but overly they aren't difficult for us non regular users.

Once polished they do look very professional (I do go in for the whole two coats base coat and a coat of clear to finish though). I think all the colours do need two coats as it does stop them looking slightly streaky. Chip proof they are not, but I do the washing up without gloves and they still last about 4 days before I need to reapply which is not bad in my book.

I have had a look and Asos are doing two colours for £10 I think I will be getting the pastel yellow and mint green next!

On Saturday, I picked up some new body moisturiser, after using some of the Garnier products for some time. I took advantage of a lovely 2for1 superdrug offer, St Ives body moisturiser. I think it cost about £5 for two of these large bottles... bargain!

I have to say results so far are promising! The consistency is a little bit runny, but rubs in quite quickly and after just two days of use I can actually feel a difference on my skin. It isn't fragranced so nothing to report on that side I am afraid, but so far so good, any product that produces such an instant effect is always a real find! My skin type is quite dry but this is from years of not applying anything to my skin after taking a shower (bad I know, but better late than never to start turning things around hey?!).

Giorgio Armani

So I have been trying to find the event I am going to talk about online but I cant find it anywhere:(
Giorgio Armani are doing an evening event April 24th in Selfridges where you pay £30 and you get a goody bag worth £50 along with champagne and a free make over plus a guest make up artist giving you tips.

I went to something similar at space NK a while ago which had a fantastic goody bag (not that I could afford to re buy any of its contents that I liked) but it was a bit crowded so I couldn't really make the most of the experience. So am now pondering.... to go or not to go......
After my current You Tube/ Blog addiction I have decided to give my own a go!

So the first product that I am absolutely in love with is.....
I read about this product in Sunday Times magazine (Not
something i read all the time, but I went through a stage of reading it for recipes, when I was desperately learning how to cook, burnt pasta was just not cutting it!) So anyway, this product was made for superdrug by one of the larger brands I want to say something like Estee Lauder but I am not certain. So at £12 its not the cheapest in the world, but this is my second tube and I love it!

My next product I am currently trialing after reading about it on Bubbleg
arm's site is Naked Shampoo and conditioner. I have been using it for around 2 weeks and have noticed that my hair has not really improved it still looks slightly dry and lifeless and requires washing every day. So I am resigning myself to the fact that it isnt really suited to my hair. I have tried so many products on my hair as it is really thick and after my constant straightening as it is also frizzy and wavy it is now becoming dry. :( So this isn't a product I will be buying again, but I have spied in Superdrug another brand that is also natural so I think this will be next on the shopping list!

The next product I am trialing is Nair's hair removal cream, I have to admit to always being a razor girl, which does leave you with prickly stubble :( not attractive so I am now giving this product a go! I used this, this morning on my legs, underarm and bikini line and my findings so far is, I haven't left it on for long enough (product states 5 minutes but I think 7 is closer to the amount of time I need). Also I didn't put it on thick enough so I have now patchily removed everything, but i will try again and see how we get on! I really dislike the peachy smell, but am happy that it worked on my legs without any reaction, as i have had a bad experience with a similar product in the past which made me come up in a rash :(

Thats all for now folks x
